PRE-DOCTORAL DISSERTATION RESEARCH IN IRANIAN STUDIES
AIIrS offers fellowships for one- to two-month research travel to countries with resources essential to the dissertation. These fellowships enable students in the field of Iranian Studies to acquaint themselves with the range of academic resources in relevant foreign countries. They are designed solely as academic support tools providing non-policy related resource access in furtherance of endorsed research proposals with stipulated deliverables. It is the responsibility of the applicant to receive permission to conduct the intended research from the pertinent authorities prior to making the application. Applicants who are awarded grants must comply with all host country laws, rules and regulations. Applicants must be US citizens who will conduct all fellowship travel on a US passport, who are enrolled in a Doctoral program in the humanities or social sciences and have an approved research topic. Applications, which should be submitted as a single PDF document, must include a curriculum vitae and a proposal giving the following information: citizenship, US residential address, academic affiliation and status (stage of progress towards the doctorate), research plans, budget, and names, addresses and e-mail addresses of two referees (including the primary academic advisor). Referees should e-mail their letters of recommendation directly to AIIrS and include an evaluation of the project and how study at the particular foreign resource(s) will enhance dissertation work. The deadline for receiving applications is December 10, 2026, for travel that must be concluded by September 30, 2027. Applications should be emailed to: aiis@nyc.rr.com. CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE ABROAD

AIIrS offers fellowships for travel to present papers at Iranian Studies conferences overseas. The applicant must have an accepted paper proposal for the conference prior to making the application. Applicants must be US citizens who will conduct all fellowship travel on a US passport, and who are either enrolled in a Doctoral program or are established scholars of Iranian Studies. Applications, which should be submitted as a single document, must include a the accepted paper abstract, curriculum vitae, and a letter giving the following information: citizenship, US residential address, academic affiliation, relationship of the conference paper to the topic of the dissertation or current scholarly research, budget, and names, addresses and e-mail addresses of two referees. Applications, which will be considered on a rolling basis, should be emailed to: aiis@nyc.rr.com. SHORT-TERM SENIOR FELLOWSHIPS IN IRANIAN STUDIES
AIIrS offers short-term senior fellowships for research travel of up to four weeks to Iran or other countries with resources essential to the the research. These fellowships enable established scholars with research interests in the field of Iranian Studies to acquaint themselves with the range of academic resources in Iran or relevant other countries. They are designed solely as academic support tools providing non-policy related resource access in furtherance of endorsed research proposals with stipulated deliverables. It is the responsibility of the applicant to receive permission to conduct the intended research from the pertinent Iranian or other-country authorities prior to making the application. Applicants who are awarded grants must comply with all host country laws, rules and regulations. Applicants must be US citizens who will conduct all fellowship travel on a US passport, and preference will be given to tenured faculty members and museum staff with some knowledge of Persian and a record of research in the humanities or the social sciences relating to Iran. Applications, which should be submitted as a single PDF document, must include a curriculum vitae and a proposal giving the following information: citizenship, US residential address, research plans, intended output, budget, the names and addresses of the relevant contacts abroad who have provided permission to research, and the names and e-mail addresses of two referees.
